Very Local, Very Fresh Hill District Beer Event Details
Very Local, Very Fresh: Meeting The People Where They’re At is a panel discussion and tasting event focused on access, education, and opportunities in the beer community, presented by Very Local Pittsburgh & Fresh Fest Beer Fest(the first black brew festival in America).
We’re hoping to eliminate some financial (and even geographic) barriers associated with conventional beer festivals with this mini-beer event, where we will be discussing opportunities for breaking into the craft beer industry. How do we improve diversity and inclusion in the beer community? By increasing the number of African-American, female, and LGBTQ+ folks who are owners, brewers, beer reps, and even just beer enthusiasts. Craft beer is for everyone and representation matters. Plus, come meet one of the owners of Harris Family Brewery, the first black-owned craft brewery in Pennsylvania.
Don’t know much about craft beer? We will be talking about that and doing some tasting, too. All levels of beer enthusiasts welcome.
Panelists:
Panel moderated by Briana L. White, Breelicious Bites & the New Pittsburgh Courier
Breweries:
Plus, DJ HollyHood
Just $5 to reserve your spot. And you get to keep your tasting glass! Advance registration required.
If you are a neighborhood organization who is interested in a discount code for attendees, please contact us. We have some tickets set aside for this.
Fresh Fest is the first black brew festival in America. The very first Fresh Fest was held in Pittsburgh last summer. Fresh Fest returns for year two on August 10, 2019.
This beer festival features Black-owned breweries from across the US, as well as beers created through collaborations between Black artists and entrepreneurs and Pennsylvania breweries.
