This Week(end): Shadyside Arts Festival, Kayak Pop-Up in Elizabeth & Brunch with Hitchhiker

A neighborhood arts festival // Long before Lawrenceville, Shadyside was the neighborhood for arts and music in Pittsburgh. Mayor Peduto has often talked about the music scene and seeing Rusted Root at the Artery in Shadyside in the ‘80s and ‘90s. This weekend is the annual Shadyside Arts Festival where artists from all over the country will take over Walnut Street. We’ve got a guide to the Shadyside Arts Festival and some thoughts on where to eat if you are in the neighborhood. (#PGHprotip: If art isn’t your thing, this is not a good weekend to stop by the Apple store to get your phone fixed)

A Pens-themed ride at Kennywood // We grabbed a sandwich with Josh Getzoff to learn more about his life as an announcer for the Penguins and his dream ride at Kennywood.

Single Issue // For anyone looking to finish up a little summer reading, we’ve published a guide to Pittsburgh Comic Book Stores. Where to go, what to look for and some local comic book artists to follow.

Coffee on tap // Our beer pick of the week doubles down on local beer and coffee. Head over to read the latest installment of ABV (our weekly beer column) to learn more about the ‘Fresh Pot of Porter’ beer from Hop Farm Brewing that is made with La Prima coffee.

Thank you for being a friend // A puppet show version of the Golden Girls is coming to Pittsburgh in October. Tickets go on sale on Friday. https://bit.ly/33RKbkX

A Very Local sandwich // Tickets are now available for our next Local x Global event in Braddock on Saturday, September 7. Blue Sparrow is preparing a Braddock inspired sandwich for the occasion.
