What to do in Pittsburgh this week

This weekend in Pittsburgh: Flax Scutching & Cowher Power

Have a beer at Couch, shop the Greenfield yard sale, meet the neighbors of Verona, attend one of the oldest festivals in the state and wake up for coffee with Brewed on Grant

Game day ready // We’re celebrating the Steelers home opener with a selection of the finest vintage Steelers gear available from Pittsburgh second-hand sellers.

Worth the drive // Our beer pick of the week is Flying Pieces, a hazy IPA from Fury Brewing in North Huntingdon. The brewmaster at Fury is self-taught and has a knack for great beer.

#PGHProTip // You can still grab lunch for less than $5. Head to The Pretzel Shop on Carson Street for a handmade pretzel.

Everything must go // Yard Sale Season continues! This Saturday is the Greenfield Neighborhood Yard Sale; find all the details in our Neighborhood Yard Sale Guide here.

Beautiful bugs // Pittsburgh Illustrator Brooke Barker (aka @SadAnimalFacts on Instagram) had a comic featured in The New York Times. Check out our Q&A with Brooke to learn more about her favorite Pittsburgh facts here.

On the road again // Driftwood Oven, the pizza shop in Lawrenceville loved by locals and Chrissy Teigen, started out as a mobile pizza oven before opening a storefront. During the month of September, Driftwood is rolling out the mobile oven and popping up at some of our favorite spots around town.

Shop local above Pittsburgh // A pop-up marketplace with a view. Industrious, a coworking space on the 31st floor of PPG 1, is hosting a pop-up market and happy hour on Thursday, September 19. We’ll be there and you should be too. Register ahead of time to get a free drink and a swag bag.

GAME DAY DETAILS

Last week, the Steelers lost to the Patriots during the Sunday Night Football game. This week, hopefully, the home field advantage will produce a different result.
