Fries and shine! Sunny Side Up brunch is back at Pittsburgh Sandwich Society on August 25

Here’s where you can purchase your tickets to Sunny Side Up brunch.

Sunny Side Up is an outdoor, recurring, pop-up brunch partnership between Very Local and Pittsburgh Sandwich Society. Join us in their side lot to eat great food, drink great beers and take advantage of Pittsburgh’s summer sunshine.

The third installment pairs a to-be-determined brunch menu with Hitchhiker beer.

Your $10 ticket gets you:

1 menu item of your choice

1 beer from Hitchhiker’s new Nomad beer truck (a nonalcoholic drink option is also available)

June’s brunch options featured loaded fries with a dippy egg, a breakfast burrito, a fried chicken sandwich on a Wise County Biscuit and a breakfast salad with local greens and Pigeon Bagel croutons. Gluten-free and vegetarian modifications are available upon request.

Additional food and drinks are available for purchase. Remember to bring your ID if you plan on drinking.

Tickets are encouraged, as that gets you the brunch club discount and guarantees that it won’t be sold out. It also helps Pittsburgh Sandwich Society accurately order and prep food, since brunch is not on their regular menu.

If commitment’s not your thing, you can still take your chances and pay full price day-of. Rain or shine.

Party time, egg-cellent! It’s a 10-Buck-Brunch

10 AM to 2 PM

Pittsburgh Sandwich Society (108 43rd St, Lawrenceville; side lot)

Everyone knows Pittsburgh Sandwich Society and its In-n-Aht burger, which has made a bunch of best-of lists. Last year was the debut of its second mobile food concept, the Burrito Bus, which serves up California-style burritos from a vintage Volkswagen bus. This year, they’re going outdoors and off-menu, partnering with some favorite local breweries and experimenting in the commissary kitchen.

Note: Have you had the After School Special Burrito? It’s the best handheld hangover food. And if you haven’t, I recommend dropping everything and following them on social media to stalk their location.

While the exact menu is under development, here are some previous Pittsburgh Sandwich Society brunch menu highlights:

Stephanie has been organizing events since 1998, starting with a series of motorcycle rides through the Arizona desert to support her father’s business. She’s probably crossed your name off a presale ticket list or served you a beer somewhere around town. An undergrad degree in poetry means she has lots of unpractical knowledge about iambic pentameter, while a brief stint as a copy editor for Alternative Press taught her that twenty one pilots is stylized in all lowercase letters. Wanna throw a party in a vacant parking lot? She’s interested. At the onset of COVID-19, Stephanie took on the role of podcast producer for The Slaw. She’s pretty familiar with a microphone, thanks to that aforementioned poetry degree, and she’s got the wherewithal to ask Epicast Studios for help. She listens to too many true crime podcasts, and currently records from her bedroom. If you know of someone who would be the perfect podcast guest, send her an email.
