While a number of Pittsburgh-area breweries are closed on Mondays – many use Mondays to brew beer or take a day of rest after the weekend – some are, in fact, open for service on the regular.

Abjuration Brewing // McKees Rocks

Monday Hours: 5pm to 10pm

We Recommend: India Pale Ale, IPA // varying ABVs — Abjuration uses a “versioning scheme” to categorize each batch of their beer. You may see names like IPA v2.2 or IPA v3.2; each version indicates the tweak or change in that beer’s manufacturing progression at the brewery.

Monday Hours: 5pm to 11pm

We Recommend: Independent is constantly rotating their beer taps. In an effort to drink local, we recommend trying the selections available from Dancing Gnome Beer or Roundabout Brewery.

City Works // Downtown

Monday Hours: 11am to midnight

We Recommend: City Works has over 90 beer taps – best advice I’ve got is to take your time with the menu. They guarantee 11 taps to be local (or regional) and all their beers are indexed by style.

Hough’s // Greenfield

Monday Hours: 4pm to 1am (although on quiet nights they may close a bit early)

We Recommend: Hough’s is constantly rotating their beer taps. However, if you’re hungry – I’m in love with their totchos.

Mike’s Beer Bar // North Shore

Monday Hours: 11am to 11pm

We Recommend: Mike’s Beer Bar has 80 rotating taps and literally dozens of them are locally sourced beers. You can usually find stellar options from Strange Roots, ShuBrew, Leaning Cask, Mindful, Hitchhiker, Helltown, Cinderlands, Grist House, Eleventh Hour, Fury, East End, Insurrection, and others. It’s a crazy good beer list.

Monday Hours: 10am to 10pm

We Recommend: Carson Street Deli is constantly rotating their beer taps. In an effort to drink local, we recommend trying the selections available from Dancing Gnome Beer, Strange Roots or Yellow Bridge.
