The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission is offering a day of free fishing on the 4th of July. This is the second fish-for-free day for the year.

For one day only, you are allowed to fish without a fishing license across the state.

Wait, what? I need a license to fish in Pennsylvania?

Yes, Pennsylvania state laws require all recreational fishermen and fisherwomen to have a license. Pennsylvania has required that PA residents purchase a fishing license since 1922. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission website has an extensive history of fishing regulations in Pennsylvania.
