This weekend: Homebrew, coffee week, climbing walls & Clemente

Now that there is a chill in the air, we’ve got lots of ways to warm up with a hot beverage (Pittsburgh coffee week), a beer (Grist House’s new Dream Queen) or an indoor activity, like yoga with a beer (Let it Flow Yoga @ Cinderlands).

You won’t find these beers on tap anywhere // This Saturday is the 13th annual Brewing Up A Cure event. This beer festival features the beer from Pittsburgh area homebrewers. Tickets are just $50 and all of the proceeds go to cystic fibrosis research.

Coffee before cocktails // October 19-26 is the 5th annual Pittsburgh Coffee Week. We’ve got the scoop on coffee tasting, coffee, and cocktail pairings and the latte throw down.

Elevating community // Our latest video goes inside Ascend, a climbing gym that offers fitness classes, yoga, and community on the South Side.

If you don’t do dairy, do this // We’ve got the top picks for vegan ice cream in Pittsburgh.

Peach, mango, vanilla & honey // Our beer pick for the week is the Dream Queen, a new fruited sour beer from Grist House in Millvale.

Spend the afternoon in Morningside // We love neighborhood festivals. Sunday afternoon is the Made in Morningside festival, featuring a Morningside market, beer garden and food from Bulldog Pub.

Heinz’s hometown // On November 2, our next Local x Global event takes place in Sharpsburg, the hometown of HJ. Join us at Dancing Gnome where Blue Sparrow will be serving up a sandwich that was inspired by Sharpsburg.

Join the Very Local team // We’re looking for the next member of the Very Local Pittsburgh team! Know someone who would be the perfect sales strategist? Please share this job description with them.
