Opt Outside with Kim Refosco of Outdoor Afro
This week on The Slaw, we talked to Kim Refosco, leader of the Pittsburgh Outdoor Afro community. As part of a nationwide nonprofit, Outdoor Afro leads participants on organized group hikes, along with activities like camping, kayaking, fishing and swimming. Kim shares some of her favorite spots to visit here in Pittsburgh and previews some of what Outdoor Afro Pittsburgh has planned for winter.

- 🍻 Trace Brewing selected their first vocational candidate with the aim of diversifying the craft beer industry. The paid opportunity (from January to July 2021) provides hands-on brewing experience and education to a participant in an underrepresented group in the beer realm, including women, minorities and people of color. - 🛍 Tal & Bert, a husband-and-wife duo who have received national attention for their housewares and plant offerings, is opening a brick and mortar shop in Dormont this weekend. If you’d like to visit the plant bar, you can make an appointment online.
- 🖱 This Saturday you can log on for Cheers, Yinz! A virtual beer festival from Fueled By Hops. All proceeds are being donated back to smaller (local) craft breweries undergoing financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
