ICYMI – the 2019 Three Rivers Regatta has been canceled. Since you don’t gotta regatta this weekend, we’ve put together a list of all of the other things you can do instead of the Three Rivers Regatta. There. In addition to the Moraine State Park Regatta and some of the Three Rivers Regatta events that will be held as planned, this weekend offers many other ways to explore Pittsburgh. From international pinball tournaments to historic battlefield reenactments, ice cream sandwich day, farmers markets, and gallery crawl there is an event that is sure to suit every interest in Pittsburgh this weekend.

Pinburgh Pinball Tournament & Replay FX

This is a four-day festival of pinball, arcade games, and e-sports. ReplayFX includes Pinburgh, one of the largest pinball tournaments in the world.

Unblurred: First Fridays on Penn Avenue

A free gallery crawl and community arts celebration happens along Penn Avenue in Garfield on the first Friday of every month. Wine and beer for adults, music, art, and activities for the kiddos. All free.

Moraine State Park Regatta

The 21st annual regatta features competitions on the water as well as lots of free activities on land.

256th Anniversary of the Battle of Bushy Run

A weekend festival which includes reenactments of the battle of Bushy Run commemorates the 256th anniversary of the battle.

Squonk Opera’s ‘Hand in Hand’ @ PPG Plaza

Squonk Opera was all set for a Pittsburgh debut of Hand in Hand, their newest performance, at the Three Rivers Regatta. While the regatta has been canceled, the show must go on. Highwoods Property Management, which runs the PPG complex and the Pittsburgh Downtown partnership have lent a hand to help Squonk Opera run the production in PPG Plaza on Saturday evening.

Very Local’s Very Pittsburgh Ice Cream Sandwich Day Celebration

In honor of National Ice Cream Sandwich Day, we’ve partnered with the ice cream sandwich experts at Leona’s to create a very Pittsburgh ice cream sandwich: Strawberry Pretzel Salad is the inspiration for the Very Local Sandwich.

Come join us on the Northside for ice cream sandwiches, circus performers, snacks, beer and a free celebration of the coolest sandwiches in town.

Rosè All Day

Wine not? An entire festival of rosè wine, cocktails, beer and more will be at Nova Place on Saturday, August 3rd. We are certain that an hour of rosè will help wipe those regatta tears away.

Beechview Neighborhood Yard Sale

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Spend the morning hunting for treasure in the hills of Beechview. We’ve been having a great time this summer checking out all of the neighborhood yard sales.

Bloomfield Saturday Market

SHORE House Tour

SHORE stands for Schenley Heights Organized Revitalize Effort. Come along for a walking tour to learn more about some of the recently completed and future projects that SHORE is working on.

Saturday Night Market in Market Square

Remember when Downtown used to be a ghost town on the weekends. This is not the downtown Pittsburgh of the 1990s. Every Saturday night, stop by Market Square for food, local vendors and live music.

American Cancer Society’s Paddlesport Championship

Another event that was planned in concert with the Three Rivers Regatta will go on as planned. This is like a 5k but on the water. Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards will do a three-mile loop that hits all three rivers.

Guster at Hartwood Acres Amphitheater

Guster returns to Pittsburgh to play a free concert at Hartwood Acres Amphitheater. Back in 2016, Guster got stuck in Pittsburgh during a snowstorm, performed a concert in front of a dumpster and then turned that into a song too.
