What to do in Pittsburgh this week

Week(end): All the summer fun for FREE & craft beers for $5

FREE: Gallery Crawl. Urban Hike, Stephen Marley @ Hartwood. Under $5: Pilsner Power Hour at Lorelei, Beer Fest in the Hill District

REMINDER! Very Local has partnered with the Fresh Fest team for a community beer fest on Saturday. Tickets are $5 and that includes beer tastings, tasty snacks from Casa Brasil and admission to an all-star panel discussion on diversity and inclusion in the craft beer industry. We hope to see you there!

EXPLORE:

Urban Hike is back with a new route through Chatham University’s Shadyside campus. Grab your walking shoes and join the Urban Hike volunteers for a free walking tour.

WATCH:

Our latest mini-documentary is a profile of Sapling Press. Meet Lisa Krowinski and learn how she uses antique letterpress equipment to make modern greeting cards.

Q&A:

We caught up with Brandalynn Armstrong who is a professor of brewing science and a co-owner of Zeroday Brewing to talk about underrepresented groups in the craft beer industry. (Brandalynn is one of the panelists at our Very Local, Very Fresh beer event on Saturday!)

SHOP:

Before you head out for the Urban Hike or your Saturday trip to the pool. Don’t forget to make a stop at the Bloomfield Saturday Market to fuel up on coffee or breakfast for the day.

POWER HOUR:

We’re pretty excited about the new happy hour at Lorelei in East Liberty. From 5-6pm all Pilsners are just $4.

FREE MUSIC:

Everyone is talking about the Deutschtown Music Festival with more than 300 bands on 30 stages – all free. But don’t forget about Hartwood Acres Amphitheater. You can see Stephen Marley on Sunday, also free.
