ABV is our weekly series that highlights a different beer from a local Pittsburgh brewery every week. Check out our past picks here.

BrewDog is a Scotland-based brewery with a large hotel-brewery concept located just outside Columbus, Ohio.

Known as the DogHouse, their dog-friendly beer hotel was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Greatest Places of 2019. Guests staying at the DogHouse are able to pour BrewDog’s draft beer right from each of the guest rooms.

Pittsburgh-based BrewDog fans have been enjoying their beer locally through restaurants and distributors (mostly in cans).

On Friday, Feb 28, BrewDog is opening their Pittsburgh brewery and restaurant in East Liberty. This is BrewDog’s second United States location; the 4,000 sq ft facility will pour beer from a 24-tap system.

BrewDog Pittsburgh – A Scotland-Based Brewery Assimilates to Pittsburgh

Local Brewer: BrewDog has hired Paul Young, who was previously the head brewer at Enix Brewing in Homestead. A native of Kentucky, Young has been brewing in the Pittsburgh-area since 2018.

Other Pittsburgh Beer on tap: While BrewDog will be brewing and serving their in-house, Pittsburgh-brewed beers, they will keep a handful of rotating, local guest beers on draft for folks to enjoy – including Helltown, CoStar and others.

Lorelei: Recently named one of the best bars in Pittsburgh by Pittsburgh magazine.

Kelly’s Bar: Dive bar with a great selection of local beer and some of the best bar food in town.

Commerce Bar: This secret speakeasy features elevated cocktails as well as local craft beer from Cinderlands Beer Co.
